On January 9, I reported that James Jay LaBranche was arrested in the morning on a Ramey warrant for PC 664/187(a) attempted murder and PC 273.5(a) domestic violence. LaBranche has 2023 conviction for domestic violence; other charges dismissed as part of the plea. He also has 2015 and 2009 DUI conviction.

Yesterday, the Humboldt County DA filed a complaint charging LaBranche with four felonies and special allegations for each count.
LaBranche was arraigned yesterday. The Public Defender's Office was appointed by Judge Lawrence Killoran; bail is $750,000 and a criminal protective order was served on him in court. Deputy DA Victoria Reierstad filed the complaint & appeared on the case at arraignment. OR bail is on 1/15; preliminary hearing is on 1/23.
