"This is a tough time. There are many sinking ships. It is not news that we are struggling but we are not filing for bankruptcy."

Spoke with Tom Tellez in July 2024. He is the owner of Wallace and Hinz. I have  spoken with Tom many times. Usually it was about compliments from people and I have reported on Walace and Hinz' unique, custom bars for local businesses.

I covered Wallace and Hinz' lawsuit against Joe Mazzotti. That case is still open. There was a warrant issued for Jean Mazzotti on 11/25/24. Joe Mazzotti's still owes Wallace and Hinz money. That is from court records and I confirmed with Tom today.

Tom had told me that he was looking to retire in 2025. The business being up for sale is known now but it was not when I spoke to Tom last year. I have hinted twice at a much loved local business and that I would be sharing news in the future. I heard some recent news and reached out to Tom.

"This is a tough time," Tom told me when we spoke today. "There are many sinking ships. It is not news that we are struggling but we are not filing for bankruptcy."

There is good news about Wallace and Hinz but I cannot share all of it today. Stay tuned and I will update this post in a few days. What I can share is there is a buyer. Wallace and Hinz are in the middle of the sale. Once it is finalized, I can share two key details about the new owner and the deal. When I do, you will see how respected Wallace and Hinz is and it speaks to Tom's credibility and transparency.

Part of the reason I did this post is because rumors get spread very easily in town and it is better to quell them before they spread. I reached out to Tom because I wanted to report the facts and this latest development but nothing that would put the current negotiations in jeopardy.

If you do not follow my blog regularly, you can find previous posts on Wallace and Hinz including the Mazzotti lawsuit via the search feature.
