On 8/14, there was a preliminary hearing for assault suspect Kristen Wise. Judge Steven Steward held Wise to answer as charged. Arraignment on information is on 8/28.
Deputy District Attorney Trent Timm made an offer to resolve the case before the preliminary hearing. Deputy County Counsel Zach Curtis is Wise's attorney. Deputy Public Defender David Nims' name on the cover page is probably just a honest mistake on a busy day by the clerk. One that I understand given the chaotic environment of Humboldt Superior Court and staff doing double, triple duty.
8/28: Readiness conference on 12/4/24; jury trial on 12/16/24.
12/4/24: Readiness conference continued by stipulation for possible resolution; people keep offer open until next court date. Deputy DA Roger Rees appeared on the case for the People; Deputy Conflict Counsel RJ Leohner for Wise. 12/16/24 date vacated. Readiness Conference scheduled for 2/26/25; jury trial for 3/10/25.
2/26/25: Trial date confirmed for 3/10.
3/10/25: On the day of her jury trial, Wise entered a plea. Deputy Conflict Counsel Zach Curtis was present for Wise. Sentencing is on 4/3/25.
4/3/25: Sentencing continued by defense to 4/23 because probation report received today.
