HCDTF busting drug mules and underlings doesn't stop the scourge

Yes drugs are bad. However, fentanyl, meth, heroin, cocaine don't disappear with these individual arrests. HCDTF seems to spend a lot of resources arresting small time underlings.

Meanwhile drugs are rampant. How many "legit" businesses and long time locals are making money off drugs and laundering money? Not a single slumlord or big bust.

I never have and am not to going to run every press release for this reason. HCDTF, more than any other law enforcement, mostly arrests repeat offenders and small busts. Is this the best use of staffing and resources? I prefer to focus my time and use space on this blog for news that makes a difference.

HCDTF Press Release:

On November 1st, 2021, special agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF), with the assistance of the Eureka Police Department Problem Oriented Policing Team (POP) conducted surveillance on a residence in the 1800 block of Harris St. in Eureka.

Agents had received information that the resident, Katelyn Hansen (30 years old), was selling fentanyl. Agents watched one suspected customer arrive at the house, leave after a few minutes, and then watched him conduct a suspected drug transaction with another customer waiting around the corner from the residence. Agents authored a search warrant for the residence after viewing the drug transactions. During the service of the search warrant Hansen was detained without incident and was found to be the solo occupant of the residence.

Agents conducted a search of the home and located approx. 1.5 ounces of fentanyl, a digital scale with fentanyl residue on the scale, packaging materials, and approx. 6 grams of methamphetamine. Hansen was transported to the Humboldt County Jail where she was booked for the following charges:

 • 11366.5 H&S Operating or maintaining a drug house

• 11351 H&S Possession of fentanyl for sale

• 11377 H&S Possession of methamphetamine
