Minnesota corrections officer attacked and killed by inmate serving homicide conviction


A Minnesota Correctional Facility in Stillwater was on lockdown after Corrections Officer Joseph Gomm was attacked and killed by an inmate this afternoon. The inmate is serving time for a homicide conviction.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the incident.

One media report by KSTP identified the inmate as Edward Muhammad Johnson and the weapon used as a hammer.
