Libelious lies spread about Kyle Zoellner. Anonymous death threats reported to APD by Naiya Wilkins, nothing done about that, at least they have not told her.
I have been harassed, threatened in court, and today an anonymous threat on my last blog post.
They gave out Kyle Zoellner's address during Sgt. Dokweiler's testimony, in a court.
In the audience was Verbena, Tina Sampay and Michael Fennell were taking notes. What accountability do these three have if they disseminate that address on social media or give it out to someone?
Are members of Brothers United being investigated for being in a brawl at an off campus party?
The mob mentality is coming from one source. If APD officers did not feel safe the night of Spear Avenue, why should we?
Why wasnt 1120 Spear Avenue searched for missing knives? Why are the owners of that house who threw that party not being held responsible in any way?
At least one other media outlet is also getting harassing phone calls and being harassed online. This is not expression or free speech, it is intimidation.
Poor John Chiv. Wah wah wah.
ReplyDeleteYour a dumb fuck...Dont hate on the truth
DeleteSHUT UP JOHN CHIV
ReplyDeleteWhy should the Vice Mayor listen to you?
ReplyDeleteThe vice mayor should listen because she is the vice mayor, are you stupid? Why doesn't she and apd not care that the people threatening others? Why are they only wanting to protect the black people involved? How is that not racist? Tina Sapmay should have her phone searched because she was at this party. Alot of people placed her there, yet she sat in the room "reporting." These people involved are causing violence in our community and I'm wondering why people don't care. Has anyone even looked at Josiah's fb page? He states he "hates pigs" and he posted alot of fighting videos. This shows his character as being aggressive.
DeleteJohn Chiv is not credible.
ReplyDeleteHe is very credible and you're just mad that he is reporting the facts and he's not allowing them to make him back down from the truth.
DeleteThank you for reporting and asking these questions. I am curious about the coordinated effort to discredit and coerce you. Stay strong! People do support you and the reporting you do
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment.
DeleteYou are very welcome! Thank you for reporting on convoluted case
DeleteThank you John for your hard work and keeping us informed about the case... too bad some can't accept the facts.
ReplyDelete"Kyle, Naiya, me and others"
ReplyDeleteAHA! I knew you were friends with Kyle before all of this.
More allegations with no bias. I have never met Kyle, not even now. Yes, I got to know his family during the court proceedibgs. So what? I know many families. I have been there for the community and covering courts daily for three years. Why so anonymous comments in less than a few minutes? Gutless coward. Keep giving me more information to document. Not only are you paranoid but you are stupid.
DeleteGood point John I totally agree..You are the best reporter I seen...They are mad because they are guilty and they tried to put blame on a innocent white guy and it didn't work
ReplyDeleteYou better come to Arcata John Chiv There are some black people expressing free speech and you wont like it
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look like free speech from the tv coverage on facebook to me. I don't plan my schedule according to you nor do you dictate what I do. In your rage filled hate, you can't even see that I cover legitimate news, white, black, brown, purple. Don't have time to waste on every protest du jour especially unproductive actions that are not about Justice for Josiah.
DeleteCredible instances of witness intimidation/death threats to Wilkins should be immediately reported to the closest FBI field office. Due to the nature of this situation, they may choose to take appropriate action.
ReplyDeleteShe reported it to APD. They have to investigate it and she claims she never heard back from them.
DeleteThe court has ruled, there's no evidence there. Much as they might want to, you can't convict a man just because an angry mob shouts 'no justice, no peace.'
ReplyDeleteWtf is the community coming to.. why are there so many people trying to shout and lie about what's going on with this situation? I hope the person responsible is found and held accountable. I don't believe that was Kyle though... focus the energy where it's needed people.. great job john for the least bias coverage I've found.
ReplyDeleteTake a look at what happened in arcata today. The cops stood down so that violent racist thugs could raise hell. And they did. Disgusting. What else can we expect from a "police force" that coddles illegals & lets racist blacks run wild?
ReplyDeleteI read the statement of the Vice-Mayor of Arcata before the start of the City Council meeting. I won't post a link but if you want to read it, look for "Arcata’s vice-mayor deplores racism’s role in killing".
ReplyDelete(I will say that the account says the rest of the council has no comments but started on regular business).
The Vice-Mayor has a BA in Communications with a minor in Social Advocacy. She is now employed by DHHS as a Legislative Analyst.
One of the subjects covered by the Social Advocacy is "various disciplines view advocacy and the ethics of advocating".
I hadn't come across that field before so I looked further. In the discussion of Ethics in Communications (her major) I came across a purposeful statement from a very professional organization : http://apps.prsa.org/AboutPRSA/ethics/codeenglish/ (they are the Public Relations Society of America):
Honesty
"We adhere to the highest standards of accuracy and truth in advancing the interests of those we represent and in communicating with the public."
Fairness:
"We deal fairly with clients, employers, competitors, peers, vendors, the media, and the general public. We respect all opinions and support the right of free expression".
Ms Pereira is listed as a Humboldt Co employee as "STAFF SERVICES ANALYST III M & C "
I don't know what she does but it gets her over $88,000 in salary & benefits last year.
But what I'm trying to say is that here is someone who is educated, is employed in a professional position, was elected to public office...and
STILL CALLS A SITUATION RACIST Or claims rampant RACISM in Humboldt County without actually describing how or why she knows this was racist or that there is rampant racism in Humboldt and that she has a moral and ethical responsibility to use her forum as an elected public official.....when there is NO proof to either.
On the subject of racism, I'm not there. But for most of my life I have lived in a society which could be called 'racist' because there are individuals (and some groups and companies as well) they self-identity as one thing and identify someone or some other people as another. Do I like it? NO. Do I try to live and act differently and hope to set a better example? YES. Have I changed anything? I don't know. On a personal basis people may self-identify as a minority who suffers from discrimination. When it comes to education and housing, those statistics can be explored, identified and measured with the plan of changing them. In other situations the experience is psychological and more difficult to document and address.
Because of her education and employment Ms Pereira may identify with people who feel they have suffered from discrimination. But empathy is not facts.
It reminds me of the story of the boy who cried wolf. Aesop's Fables date back over 2,300 years. That story is still used to describe a situation where in seeking to call attention to a potential 'danger' (a wolf which was really non-existent) over time was ignored by those he had mislead.
So Ms. Pereira might accomplish more and bring more people to understand better what she campaigns against if she lowered her rhetoric, both in tone and word choice. The power of words can be quickly lost when there is little useful information.
I would suggest someone trained in conflict resolution could make suggestions on how best to get the real points across. Ms. Pereira, with a degree in Communications, is failing in the basics of that field. I hope her work for DHHS is more nuanced and productive.
I'm sorry you and others have been threatened. Arcata does need to take official notice of that. I hope we hear an positive update on this.
I'd like to see the Vice Mayor apologize to the community, the police, and the EMTs for her reckless and baseless comments that we are a racist community.
