When you have a record and try and cash a fake check right across from the jail

Jeremiah Fletcher, a frequent guest at the Humboldt Hilton, was at the Courthouse Market around 5 p.m.

A local citizen, who recognized Fletcher, told me he "was (allegedly) trying to cash a $1,300 bogus check. Courthouse Market staff called the jail to verify the check and the jail said it was no good. I looked at the check and you could tell he took the original name off the check and put his name on it. They called EPD."

According to EPD's Brittany Powell,"EPD did respond to that location around 5 p.m. for the report of a male attempting to cash a suspicious check.  It appears the male left before officers arrived. No arrests were made."

In March 2011,  Judge Christopher Wilson sentenced Fletcher to two years in prison and fined him $570 dollars.

The photo above is from this 2015 HCSO press release:

On 05-27-2015 at 9:45 a.m. a deputy on was routine patrol on Cannibal Island Road, Loleta. The deputy noticed a red, Kia minivan being driven by 24 year old, Robert Glen Adam Ellis.

The deputy knew from prior contacts that Ellis was on probation with a search and seizure clause and his driver’s license was suspended. The deputy then made a traffic stop on the vehicle being driven by Ellis.

When the deputy contacted Ellis he could smell the odor of marijuana emitting from his vehicle. The deputy then detained Ellis in handcuffs and placed him into the rear seat of his patrol vehicle.

The deputy contacted the passenger of the vehicle, who he identified as 33 year old, Jeramiah Scott Fletcher.

The deputy contacted his communications center and checked Fletcher for any possible warrants. The deputy learned Fletcher had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest for possession of stolen property. Fletcher was then arrested and placed into handcuffs.

When the deputy searched Fletcher he located a cloth case strapped on his thigh underneath his pants. When the deputy removed the cloth case he located (4) four baggies containing approximately (1) one ounce of methamphetamine.

The deputy then searched the vehicle. Inside of the vehicle the deputy located approximately (2) two pounds of marijuana. Two Hypodermic needles, (2) two grams of methamphetamine and two small digital scales.

Both suspects were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility in Eureka.

Ellis was booked for the following charges, possession of a controlled substance, transportation and for sales of a controlled substance, driving on a suspended license and for violation of probation.

Ellis’s bail was set at $50,000 dollars. Fletcher was booked for the following charges, possession of a controlled substance, transportation and for sales of a controlled substance. Fletcher’s bail was set at $50,000 dollars.
