"No old growth redwood trees would be removed or threatened by this project. "

The Richardson Grove Operational Improvement Project would make minor adjustments to the current alignment of U.S. Highway 101 in and near Richardson Grove State Park in Humboldt County to allow access by industry standard-sized trucks, which can be slightly longer than the currently allowed California legal trucks.

This project, which would increase the efficiency of goods movement, has long been a priority of the County of Humboldt. Project proponents also include many small local businesses.

No old growth redwood trees would be removed or threatened by this project. This minor project would disturb 0.67 acres of soil along 1.1 miles of U.S. Highway 101. For comparison, Richardson Grove State Park is approximately 2,000 acres. Caltrans has taken the utmost care in designing the project with sensitivity to the environment and has thoroughly analyzed potential environmental impacts. Documentation of the analyses is readily accessible on the project webpage at dot.ca.gov/dist1/d1projects/richardson_grove/.

Since 2010, there have been minor reductions in the project footprint and slight changes to meet current safety standards. There have been four public meetings and five public comment periods held for this project, more than any other contemporary project in Caltrans District 1.

  1. Even if God and Sister Teresa gave their blessing to the Richardson's alignment project, the eco-f-cks would still freak out, complain, and find a loserville liberal piece of garbage judge in San Fran to do a court injunction/cease and desist. You LEAF KISSERS need to find ecoville in the Amazon on a one way flight.

  2. The prior environmental impact report stated the largest tree to be removed was 8" diameter and NOT a redwood. See the current deterrant to the project is the roots. I don't see any dying of redwoods currently from the existing road's footprint so how can they validate a killing od redwoods if the road is curved more? False calims-alarmist panter-and a pucky liberal worthless judge embracing the moment to "SAVE THE WORLD". BS!!!
