J.D. Grow charged with alleged lewd act upon a minor child; manufacture/assault weapon and sexual assault on an animal

Joshua David Grow had intervention scheduled yesterday. Preliminary  scheduled for November 15 was vacated. Due to large amount of discovery and the recent amended complaint, Judge Christopher Wilson granted the defense motion to continue the preliminary. Judge Wilson noted that there had already been one continuance granted in the past.

While Deputy DA Schaffer submitted on good cause and confirmed that Grow's attorney, Mr. Benjamin Okin had discussed this with her; she did object on behalf of the alleged victim. The alleged victim opposed continuance in the past.

At the request of Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer, I did not publish this post until this morning so she could reach the alleged victim. The case file was locked in DA Investigator Steve Dunn's office and he was not in yesterday. Deputy DA Schaffer did not know if he had contacted the victim.

Mr. Okin did not request another intervention. The new preliminary date is January 9, 2018 with a two hour estimate.

Grow was arrested January 23, 2017. He was arraigned on January 24, 2017 on one felony count. The complaint was amended to six counts. Five felony counts and Cont 6 is a misdemeanor.

Count 1 is the same, PC 288  (c) 1.

Counts 2-5 PC 30600 Manufacture/Assault Weapon  "Any person who, within this state, manufactures or causes to be manufactured, distributes, transports, or imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives or lends any assault weapon or any .50 BMG rifle, except as provided by this chapter, is guilty of a felony, and upon conviction shall be punished by imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170 for four, six, or eight years.

Count 6 is PC 286.5 Sexual assault on an animal. "Any person who sexually assaults any animal protected by Section 597f for the purpose of arousing or gratifying the sexual desire of the person is guilty of a misdemeanor. The animal, according to the complaint is a cat.

Original complaint just had one count PC 288 (c) 1, Lewd act upon a child under the age of 14; with the defendant being at least 10 years older than the child. If convicte, this requires a lifetime registration as a sex offender.

Grow is not in custody and bailed out on January 24 with a bail bond.  Total bail amount is 35,000.

  1. Some years back I always noticed these Dave Grow Insulation trucks always driving like assholes.... always. They did all of JLF Constructions work until Jim fired them some years back for not putting him their main source of income first. Now we know the rest story of the story, Cash and Dope growing. Drugs always have a way of ruining lives. Pot is a gateway drug. Mix pot with Tobacco your brain will tell you it wants more, mix it with cocaine and your brain will tell you to do unspeakable things. Mix it with meth, through in some alcohol, unspeakable things. Thanks John great reporting, the links are very enlightening.
