"Channels 2,1025,5,105,7,107,9,109 did experience an outage last night relating to a fiber issue and were down for approximately 3.5 hours."

Suddenlink media contacts were either outdated an after trying since last night to get some official information on the internet outage, I contacted First District Supervisor Rex Bohn this morning.

I just got through to Suddenlink about 15 minutes ago, confirming no outage in the area,

Email to Supervisor Rex Bohn from Karen Clower, from CAO's office:

"Good Afternoon Supervisor Bohn,

I was able to locate a new contact with Suddenlink. He reported the following:

Channels 2,1025,5,105,7,107,9,109 did experience an outage last night relating to a fiber issue and were down for approximately 3.5 hours. Suddenlink also added 10 Viacom channels in the 90 series and that is usual done between midnight and 3 a.m.

Internet connectivity issues were most likely due to sporadic power outages due to winds.
Currently Suddenlink shows everything is back up and running. If customers are still experiencing issues they should contact the toll free number."

Rex gets information quick, he is accurate and he has been the only elected local or state official who has consistently worked on internet access issues for Humboldt. For many people like me, the internet is not recreational. Rex is responsive to the needs of inividuals and businesses and I am grateful.
