Before he claims he lost everything, maybe Sohum's most wanted poster child can explain what "work" he has been doing since he was released from jail?


Chase Ganey was on a poster for Sohum's Most wanted. He got arrested  on May  4, 2016 in Alderpoint, after an anymous tip and deputies located two grams of "suspected methamhetamine" on him.

Ganey gets injured while working SWAP and now wants to sue because he claims he wasn't trained properly.

Brother and sister David and Dena Lara both involved in collisions this year, both made headlines

On November 24, Dena Lara car struck Tim Good of Mckinleyville. He died.

On May 5, this year David Lara was arrested for a hit and run for the death of Ralph Summers.

"A man wanted for grand theft and burglary charges is in more trouble after he fled from deputies and injected heroin during the chase, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office."

Inmate makes dramatic entrance in court yelling "You are dead, you are alive"



Joseph Lee Gregorio chained, dressed in red jumpsuit(which means he is in administrative segregation) made a brief but dramatic entrance in court today. He came in and started pointing to other inmates and attorneys yelling, "You are dead, You are alive".

No surprise, Katherine Zacevich fails to show up in court, bench warrant issued


PG & E gate crasher Katherine Zacevich had a pre trial conference scheduled today. After hearing from both attorneys, Judge Dale Reinholtsen issued a bench warrant and said defendant should not be released on OR.

Gregory Boduch, Savannah's uncle, said he had four drafts of what he was going to say.

"Mr. Chandler wouldn't have liked what I wrote yesterday. He wouldn't have liked what I wrote last week. Everyone would have hated what I wrote before that."

Wiping tears and crying as she spoke, Mandi Kindred, Kendra's mother, spoke of how this case was prolonged for over two years and the "numerous court shuffles."

Setting for Richard Dean preliminary continued to January 3

A second doctor was expected to be appointed and setting of a new preliminary hearing was scheduled for today for Richard Dean.   Defense request to continue granted.
New date January 3.

Dean, is charged with the murder of a 52 year old in Arcata.

1 year in jail, no good conduct credits, 10 years probation for Kade Chandler


Kade Chandler's sentencing for the deaths of Savannah Kindred and Kendra Lewis, inflicting great bodily injury on Bradley Thuemler and driving under the influence was continued to this morning.

After almost three years, family members and friends of Kindred and Lewis got to see Chandler led away in cuffs.

Eleven cases, arrested by EPD, FPD, small claims lawsuit dismissed yet the debacle continues


James Darin Goodale filed a small claims
case against Martha Shanahan, a St. Joseph hospital manager. After testimony, JDG's case against was dismissed. This was in 2014.

"I filed a police report with Officer Nunez on may 17 in Eureka. "I told him about Darin assaulting me in Santa Fe on may 14th"

James Darin Goodale, the local jeweller, who recently got arrested for "reckless evading" has attracted a lot of interest.


BOLO for White Chevy in connection with shooting incident at Les Schwab


Just a couple minutes ago, a  BOLO was put out for a white Chevy, in connection with the shooting incident at Les Schwab earlier today.

EPD Crime Analyst Brittany Powell said the officers are still on scene. The alleged victim denied medical attention.

Jonah Little charged with "custodial manufacture of a weapon"


Jonah Little is already charged with assaulting a correctional deputy. Jury trial for that case is scheduled for December 4.

State prison sentence of 25 years for Trevor Michael Jackson convicted of kidnapping, marijuana robbery and vehicle theft


A persistent and violent thief -- Trevor Michael Jackson, age 34, formerly of Redwood Valley -- appeared in Department H for judgement and sentencing this morning on three separate criminal matters. When all was said and done, the tearful defendant collected a state prison sentence of 25 years.

As previously stated by Mr. Patrik Griego and just confirmed, he will not pursue compensation for attorney fees from the County.


Katherine Zacevich arrested for the second time since she has been out of custody


Katherine Zacevich was arrested by EPD, November 24 for PC 459.5, shoplifting, and booked at HCCF at 4 a.m. She has a court hearing for her alleged PG &  E  escapade this Thursday.

Once again, she was released to self.

"Terrible inconvenience. There are many people from out of state."


Sentencing for Kade Chandler scheduled for November 27 at 8:30 was continued to tomorrow because Judge John Feeney was out sick. If Judge Feeney is not in tomorrow, it will be continued, again.

The families have been waiting since February 2015 for closure and justice.

Accident 5th and V. He said two vehicles involved. Quality "not very clear as all traffic lights are flashing red."

Reader spoke to someone who witnessed the accident, "The white car ran red light and was hit by black car. The white car was crossing 5th on V and was hit by black car that was heading north on 5th."

A package containing narcotics was mailed to a Humboldt County jail inmate allegedly from a volunteer Fortuna firefighter


Crystal Dean, a female volunteer Fortuna Firefighter allegedly tried to mail narcotics to an Humboldt County jail inmate; Salas.

Dean was listed as the sender. The return address was listed as the Fortuna Fire Department. A report was taken.

It is official. David Marcus resigned this afternoon



Fifth District Supervisor Ryan Sundberg told
me that David Marcus resigned this afternoon.

The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors met for an hour and 45 minutes, starting at 4:15 today in closed session.

A request has been sent, again, to County PIO Sean Quincey for more information and statement from the County.

Does filing by Gov. Brown's office paint unions as unreasonable or is it reality?

"Advocates who say California can’t afford the benefits it has promised to 1.8 million public workers and pensioners in the California Public Employees’ Retirement System in particular cheered the governor’s arguments."

Anonymous tip leads to arrest of one wanted fugitive, one convicted felon and one woman with multiple outstanding warrants




On 11/22/2017, at about 0800 hours, Humboldt County Sheriff's Deputies assigned to the Garberville Station received an anonymous tip that wanted fugitive, Amie Havener (age 38), was currently at a residence located in the 4100 block of Redway Drive, Redway.  

Kayla Brown now a public defender client, jury trial vacated yet again

Trial assignment and confirmation of counsel was scheduled this morning for Kayla Brown. The trial jury for November 27 was vacated, as expected.
