Not sure what Take Back Mckinleyville expects Greg Pierson to do when all of Humboldt and CA are facing these issues; this petition should be sent to Jerry Brown

A petition is being circulated on change.org started by Scott Binder. So far, the petition has 468  supporters. Mckinleyville already has McKinleyville Community Watch. I am sure there is an overlap between their members and TBM.

I have contacted Mr. Greg Pierson for comment on the petition. However, the owner is Ms. Anne Pierson.
Take Back Eureka has been effective in a very short time because they show up at meetings and they direct their questions to the appropriate officials. They don't just talk; they act. Creating yet another neighborhood page and venting is cathartic but there are only few local groups, closed or open, that achieve positive change. Another local group that is effective is PacOut Green Team. Most local groups start out with good intentions; few are able to sustain the momentum without becoming another clique.

The problems in this petition are an issue because of Prop 47, Prop 57, Ab 109, a hard drug culture and lax attitude towards drugs and constant bad decisions by Governor Jerry Brown and California Democrats. Businesses all over Humboldt are suffering, why single out Greg Pierson and Safeway.?

This is happening all over California; not just Humboldt.

Text:

"We, the undersigned residents of McKinleyville and patrons of the McKinleyville Shopping Center, implore you to take immediate and more effective measures to curb the plague of transients that make the MSC their home.

This is out of control, and it needs to stop. Every day there are social media reports of the hangabouts harassing, panhandling, and stealing from residents and merchants alike. They will walk into Safeway, and walk out with baskets of products with impunity.

Alcohol and drug use is rampant, especially in the gazebo area, and in the greenbelt behind Safeway. The security guards have very little power to control them, and they know this. The sheriff won’t respond unless there is a restraining order issued against specific people.

Not only are the patrons and customers suffering, but the merchants are as well. Every day we hear reports of people saying that they are taking their business elsewhere due to the unsafe atmosphere in the area, be it experienced or perceived.

We need our businesses to succeed if we are going to move forward as a community, and the current atmosphere there is an extreme hindrance. Please, step forward with additional measures to make our citizens feel safe in our center of town…because we are running out of patience.

Residents and Concerned Citizens of McKinleyville

  1. So that little shopping center has a transient problem. The businesses are threatening to move their business elsewhere. Well, good luck trying to find a place in Humboldt County, or anywhere else in the country. We are city and suburb wide here in Eureka, Arcata is a mess. Good luck finding a better place. Signing a petition is suppose to do what? All that does is acknowledge that you all know you have a little problem. Be part of the solution, don’t just whine about it and expect a Fairy GodMother to ride in on her Fairy Dust and poof it all away. Sorry guys. Roll up your sleeves and come up with a solution. Please DON’T buy them a bus ticket south, we’ve got enough on our plate.

  2. Elections have consequences and the trouble we're in right now is a consequence of electing a bunch of a liberal Progressive idiots. John nails it, prop 47, 57, & AB 109 and the drugs are the problems. It's the Meth and Heroin stupid. Stop the flow of drugs and we won't need Pac Out Green team, we won't need a petition. Stop voting with your Ass and start voting with you eyes, look around, all the drugs, needles, feces, condom's in the playground"yuck", bums, panhandling, break-ins , shoplifting are all brought to you by voting for idiot's like Jerry Brown, Gavin Newsom and the hundreds of liberal Progressive Democrat idiots who vote right there along with their idiotic policies that give us the crap we're dealing with right now today. Vote with you eyes, stop listening to the Liars in the media, and the idiot's in Hollywood they all are rich and the cops come when they call.

  3. Prop 47, 57, and AB109 definitely have an impact. The criminal element know what they can and can't get away with, and they utilize this knowledge to the maximum of their benefit. They know that they can walk into Safeway and walk out with whatever they want, with a minimum of resistance from store staff or MSC security.

They disrespect everyone, and the line was drawn for me when they aggressively panhandled my 75-year old mother. She came home terrified, and in need of medication. That's just not right. If the law cripples the effectiveness of the Sheriff's Department, other measures need to be taken. So be it.

  4. Stop hiding behind Facebook and do something. Mckinleyville watch is a bunch of winers that don't do shit. Start running these ads clowns out of our town. Boo hoo the cops won't do anything. Grow a set and take it into your own hands. We had a problem in our neighborhood and we told the cops we were gonna mop a gut up and then call them. They came quick. Stop complaining and do something yourself.

  5. Binder is the chief whiner. He likes to make himself out as some kind of community hero. He's just a hater like the rest.
