Being an old building, a windy day, the fire at Oberon could have spread rapidly causing a lot of damage

Humboldt Bay Fire Chief Bill Gillespie spoke with me later commended the person who saw the smoke at Oberon, called Humboldt Bay Fire.

Due to the quick action, HBF was able to arrive quickly at the scene. This is an old building. Due to the construction style and it being a windy day, it could have been a mire tragic situation with the fire spreading rapidly.

Humboldt Bay Fire dedicated a lot of resources for that reason. Several firefighters, engines were on scene.

Damage estimated to $15,000.
