  1. It's quite likely that the killer is someone she knows. Perhaps an accidental killer, but surely not likely to return to school this year at HSU. Whoever it is, their fingerprints are likely on that knife. It may surface someday when the person is picked up for some reason or has to get printed in order to work at a school or somewhere else. There is no statute of limitations on murder, so it will follow him/her all their life.

Likewise it will follow the one person accused thus far, until that other person is found.

  2. It would be very helpful for Elijah Chandler to help search for justice. He could certainly shed light on the murder of his friend if he sat down for a couple of hours with the DA investigators and let them know his first-hand knowledge of the night of the crime. And it is a tragedy that Mr. Lawson died.

  3. What a moron. Can't see past the chip on her shoulder. Good grief.

  4. Is her chosen career to stir shit up? Maybe she could convince the actual killer to come forward. Well no, that wouldn't satisfy what appears to be her agenda. Her posts and rants clearly prove there is racism in this community, one of the biggest being her. She needs to have buddies come forward and cooperate instead of pointing racist fingers in every other direction. Goes both way people. If she can't be helpful and chooses to instigate the hate, then perhaps she should go home and shut the hell up. The white guy was released, had due process. What would she be screaming if a person of color was being attacked like the dude who was cleared? We ALL know what she'd be screaming don't we!

  5. She has made this a personal crusade even though s stated that she knew him well, had known him at all personally. She was not at the party or witness to anything that went on so what she reports is 2nd or 3rd hand. For a bona fide reporter it allows for objectivity. Investigative journalism is quite different from writing for the HSU newspaper.
What I want to point out is what an objective journalist would provide in facts and perspectives.
I do know about unsolved murders of two girls that lived in Willow Creek in the 80's. I just read about a local elected official who finally learned the truth about his brother's murder...in 1981:
    http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-ridley-thomas-cold-case-20170809-story.html
And yes, even though they're called 'cold cases' they're not forgotten or monitored.
    Here's some facts:
    http://www.laweekly.com/news/nearly-half-of-all-murders-in-la-county-went-unsolved-in-the-2000s-5352216
I'm not saying that Mr.Lawson's murderer won't be found. What I am saying is that if experienced, well-trained homicide detectives in Los Angeles with the trained csi techs and best equipment (and employees trained at FBI facilities) how can anyone expect instant proof and immediate justice, especially when witnesses who were there aren't willing to testify?
If Ms. Sampay bothered to pay attention to the local news in the time she's lived in Humboldt County, she'd see there are other crimes unsolved, including murder.
And something that the courses David Josiah Lawson may have studied since it does impact law enforcement:
    https://ww2.kqed.org/news/2012/01/25/calif-african-americans-disproportionately-effected-by-homicides/

Violent crime rose 10% in 2015. This is after declining for several years before that. So being in the wrong place at the wrong time means taking more risks, exposing oneself to more danger. The statistics also show that it's less likely to be a stranger.
If this is a career plan for an aspiring journalist, it's not a very promising one. If you're looking for vengeance you won't find many people willing to listen.
One of the things about going to college is not just the course of study and hopefully a degree, but the others things one can learn, like how to use facts and information, There's a section in most newspaper specifically for opinions from various people with qualified backgrounds. Letters to the Editor is another forum for getting a message out. But a message that will resonate with readers, will inform and advise the reader, it takes more than a strong dedication to one's personal opinion if it cannot be substantiated by facts. It also needs to approach the entire issue, not just specific points the writer wants to make.
It's her time and her energy but she can't expect people to get involved or excited when it's the same rhetoric over and over. I am a skeptic of sorts so take that into account when I say I think Ms. Sampay has another agenda which will be revealed in time. No crystal ball, just a knowledge of human nature.

  6. I also believe that Tina Sampay has a hidden agenda, and possibly she may want to become the head honcho for the Social Justice Warriors of HSU/ Arcata.

If Tina Sampay is so unhappy with HSU and Arcata, why doesn't she leave the area and go back to Slauson in South Central LA?

  7. they act like its a thing about color, my niece was murdered in a clean & sober living house last year & they don't have anything either!... She had blond hair & green eyes & her case is being put through the same procedures & practices as anyone, of any color, age or social standing!... putting it off as a color issue really pisses me off & makes me feel as if my nieces memory is being disrespected, as if Josiah's death was somehow more tragic or devastating to the family & community. screaming racism & saying the police aren't standing by due diligence is ignorant & disrespectful to the other families that have lost children to violence, children who WERENT committing a felony assault when the crime happened!... My niece was getting ready for school when she was killed, not mobbing on a white boy beating the hell out of him. maybe try working with the police to get a favorable response instead of having pushy protests & blocking people in parking lots, bulling them until till they call the DA on your behalf... this is such BS, pick a cause that is real. Humboldt is dangerous to anyone, our crime rate is ridiculous, 2nd only to Oakland per capita, in California. it is not a racist community that is preventing your friends killer from being caught & put on trial, its the obstruction of justice, the fact that with all the people present nobody is willing to step forward with what they saw, maybe because there is a militant group running around wanting, expecting & screaming for a white man to be put on the chopping block...
