Crews still mopping up after fire at Knapek's Auto Electric

Humboldt Bay Fire ( 7a.m.):
26 W. 4th Street Fire- Crews still on scene mopping up. One lane of 4th Street closed. Use caution in the area.

Update: I checked this morning with the Humboldt County Assessor's office and the building is owned by Oribay Venture LLC.

  1. The information about the owner is interesting. The physical, legal location of the business is a UPS store in a small shopping site (L shaped, perhaps a dozen small businesses). One wall of the business is mailboxes (the address for Oribay has the street address and then some numbers. It's not a suite number (other people using that accommodation address do write it as 'Suite ###'). The store offers copying, UPS pick up & drop off...the usual stuff. The physical business is three car parking spaces wide.
The application with the Sec. of State for the company states its business is 'Real Estate'. I wonder if the manager (who is the contact party for the company) has been looking at other property on the Eureka waterfront.
I hope all the surrounding businesses have good fire insurance, although many who rent have enough of an overhead to meet, so don't bother.

    1. As far as I'm concerned, if you need to use a UPS store as a mail drop for your real estate business, I question the legitimacy of the business or the motives of the owners if they have to bury their identity in a strip mall. And throw in a (suspicious) catastrophic fire for fun and prizes. Yeah. I smell BS. ~TMOB
