Two burglary suspects arrested by HCSO; one fled in response to a call on Herrick Avenue


On Saturday, April 15, 2017 at about 7:36 a.m. Humboldt County Sheriff Deputies responded to a residence on Herrick Avenue for a report of a burglary.  As deputies arrived, an eyewitness advised the suspects were still on scene and getting into a vehicle. Deputies approached the residence and the suspect vehicle quickly exited the driveway and drove westbound on to Herrick Avenue.




Deputies were able to catch up to the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle continued evading until it stopped on the front lawn of a residence on Clover Lane.  An unknown male fled from the rear passenger seat over a wooded embankment. CHP and Fortuna PD K-9 assisted in searching for the subject but he was not located. The driver and an additional passenger were detained. A search of the vehicle revealed numerous items that were stolen from a shed and residence on Herrick Avenue.

Amber Ames was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for VC 2800.2 Evading a Peace Officer, PC 459- Burglary, PC 496 -Possession of Stolen Property, HS 11364(a) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, HS 11377(a)- Possession of a Controlled Substance, and PC 594 (a)- Vandalism.  Her bail was set at $50,000. Sarah McCornack was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for PC 459- Burglary, PC 496-Possession of Stolen Property, HS 11364 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and PC 1203.2- Probation Violation. Her bail was also set at $50,000.
