Ex HSU football player Raul Sierra's preliminary hearing continued; victim wipes away tears as she sees him in court

Due to an unexpected death in the family of the police officer who was supposed to testify and had to go out of town for a funeral, the District Attorney's office requested a two day continuance, until Wednesday for Raul Sierra's preliminary hearing. The officer is flying back to Humboldt tomorrow.

Defense objected saying it would be an inconvenience for Sierra and his family members who traveled out of town.

Judge Joyce Hinrichs found good cause and granted the continuance. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 13 at 8:30 a.m.

Both the officer and the victim will testify. Time estimate is 3 hours.

The victim when she saw Sierra enter the courtroom wiped away tears. This happens every time she sees him. Victim Witness Advocates were present to support the victim.

Sierra was present with family members.
