Humboldt County Sheriff Mike Downey chosen as Republican of the Year

Humboldt County Sheriff Mike Downey has been chosen as Republican of the Year for 2016 and will be honored on May 21 at the annual dinner hosted by the local Republican group.

Humboldt County Republican Women President Annette De Modena said, "We chose Mike Downey for Republican of the Year because he exemplifies the philosophy long held by the Republican Party.  His work ethic is exemplary, as has been his service to the County in the various positions he has held.  Mike Downey believes in defending the entire Constitution and has often spoken regarding the Second Amendment and its history.  Because of this and more, Sheriff Mike Downey was the obvious choice for 2016's nomination of Republican of the Year."

We're having it at Baywood because we were looking for a venue that would more accommodate the travel needs of the people north of us.  Jim Brulte, State Chair, and retired state senator, is our speaker. "
