Another Ferrer in court, this time for alleged reckless arson and assault

David Vincent Ferrer was arrested by Eureka Police for PC 273.5,  wilful injury on cohabitant or spouse, on April 22.

He was arraigned and denied release on OR earlier this week.

Today, he was back in court for a hearing to see if he would be eligible for supervised release.

Deputy District Attorney David Christiansen is prosecuting this case.

Conflict Counsel's Mr. Greg Elvine-Kreis appeared in court with Ferrer.

Visiting Judge Bob McNatt denied supervised release. After reviewing the probation report and recommendation as well as hearing from the People about their concerns regarding public safety because the allegations are crimes of a violent nature. Ferrer also has a prior felony conviction.

DDA Christiansen cited PC 452, reckless arson and PC 245 (a) (1), assault with a deadly weapon, other than a firearm.

In 2011, he was arrested for a DUI.

The Ferrer boys, Juan and David sure keep their grandmother busy coming to court.

Remember Juan Ferrer who was convicted for killing Arcata chef, Douglas Anderson, last year.
