Assault and battery suspect threatens to shoot Sheriff deputies

On 02-12-2016 at about 6:30 PM Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an assault and battery incident at a business located in the 6100 block of North State Street in Calpella, California.

Deputies contacted a male adult (employee of the business) and a female adult (patron) of the business.

Deputies learned Wayne Ruelle had threatened to kill the adult female by striking her with a hammer and had physically assaulted the adult male by striking him in the chest several times with a twelve pack of beer.

Ruelle thereafter retreated to his residence which was nearby the business.

Deputies had observed Ruelle standing on the porch of his residence and he threatened to shoot the Deputies if he they came onto his property.  Ruelle then retreated inside his residence.

An arrest warrant for Ruelle was obtained for the listed violations and on 02-18-2016 Ruelle was observed on the porch of his residence by Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Deputies knocked on the doors and windows of Ruelle’s residence advising him to surrender himself however he made no attempt to communicate or indicate he would surrender.

Deputies made forced entry into Ruelle’s residence where he was quickly taken into custody without confrontation.

Ruelle was booked into the Mendocino County Jail for the listed violations and was to be held in lieu of $45,000.00 bail.
