Gunner, the marijuana sniffing canine, should visit California jails and prisons.

  1. if my olfactory is telling me the truth, gunner would have many more false positive hits than not. everyone here smells of herb, whether they use it or sell it or never go near the stuff. it took me some getting use to when i came here 15 yrs ago.

i talk to many in our communities who have done jail time and too many more who have done prison stints. the amount of hard drugs available to all blows my mind.

i'd more suggest getting gunner's big brother archer, the heroin sniffing dog, on the job w/ ol' gunner.

then there's gunner's little bro, shot putt. he'll earn his kibble working his task of finding the tweek that seeps between the sharp razor wire, the over the heads of the sharpshooter in the guard tower and through those hard, cold concrete walls that protect "us" from "them".

when did it all become so out of focus? i'd rather those incarcerated were not able to access substances that can help them forget their existence while doing their time.

but john, i'd much rather see these recalcitrant con's use thc if they have to get numb. my observations of these last 4 decades of my adult life have shown me a gentler human than i've ever seen in those who's drug of choice is so rapidly detrimental and to the user and those who occupy the planet with a user.

the majority of those i know, tell me, and i believe they are sincere, that they've abstained from all illegal substances while incarcerated.
they are so bright eyed, have great flesh tones and are just giddy...
they are so excited to be a free human again, free to call their hook-up and be a blitzed bag of feces in a matter of hours. the cycle never really stops for most.

    "death be not proud"

    ahh, free will.

btw, thanks john for the service you provide with this blog.
