Medical marijuana land use ordinance back at next meeting, public will have five days to view final draft before adoption

If the Board approves a medical marijuana ordinance on January 26 and someone meets all requirements of the medical marijuana land ordinance, permits can be issued by the Building and Planning Department.

Supervisor Estelle Fennell insisted three times and after getting input from County Counsel Jeffrey  Blanck, it was decided  that staff would  give a copy of the draft for Supervisors to look at by or before January 19. Supervisors could review, see if they want to make any changes, if staff captured feedback.

Five days before January 26 a draft will be published for the public. If major changes were made when the ordinance is scheduled to be adopted on January 26, it would require a recirculation of the mitigated negative declaration.

Public comment, supervisor questions and feedback continued today on the 13 bullet points that staff is reccomending to the ordinance. Public comment and Supervisor discussion was very vocal on where mixed lighting can be allowed and some urged it be allowed on more types of zones than staff is recommending. Supervisors were comfortable including RA zones, what size this would be allowed on was still being discussed.

Indoor grows were another hot topic for public comment.
