Nick Angeloff talks about HCDCC decision last night including the rude behavior by Pat Higgins and another member while he was speaking

I just spoke with Nick Angeloff about last night's HCDCC meeting.

He confirmed that he was allowed to speak but it "was the motion to endorse me as a Democratic candidate over a Republican candidate that did not get a second."

"I was given 5 minutes to speak as was Pat Higgins from the 5th district.  I sat quietly and politely, listening attentively as Mr. Higgins exceeded his five minutes.  I was told numerous times that there would be two and only two questions asked by the voting membership. I took my two questions and then the Board Chair said 'why don't we have a third." Mr. Angeloff was asked about the East-West railroad feasibility study and he did answer that question.

"They violated their own rule," said Mr. Angeloff, "I felt set up."

"I told them I support a comprehensive feasibility study of the East-West railroad. As an economic development professional, we need a real study to explore this possibility given the positive impacts a connection to the national rail system would have to our economy and public transportation."

"The active issue I am promoting in this campaign is trucking agricultural products from Central Valley  I have been working towards this end for the past year on my own time.  Agricultural producers, brokers, and cooperatives have shown positive response to shipping through Humboldt Bay, dock owners have shown significant interest in accommodating agricultural product shipments.  It is interesting that no one on the harbor commission has been pursuing these opportunities, not a single agricultural producer I've approached even recognized Humboldt Bay as a deep water harbor" He will be discussing more about that and the STAA status in future appearances.

"I was appalled that while I was speaking, a lady sitting behind me, I think she is on the board was making audible retorts. So was Pat Higgins who was sitting in the audience. No words, just groans and flippant noises. I think that was extremely rude."

"When I left the room, I thanked the members and there was a round of applause, I did appreciate that recognition of politeness. I don't think those two individuals were polite nor professional, and the decision of endorsement was clearly made before I said word one as I now understand from the emails posted to your blog, but I did appreciate the opportunity to speak last night."

"I don't think the decision by the HCDCC last night represents the wants and needs of 2nd Harbor District Democrats," said Mr. Angeloff.
