Eureka Natural Foods provides $1,250 to support Youth Running Shoes and Trail Stewards

Last month Eureka Natural Foods gifted $1,250 to Six Rivers Running Club and Humboldt Trails Council to support Youth Running Shoes and Trail Stewards.  The gift came from the proceeds of the Waterfront Run reserved for the last Sunday of the month, September 27th.  The Run now features a Fitness Faire from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the 2-mile run starting at 11 a.m. and the 5-mile run starting at 11:30 a.m.

The Waterfront Run attracts walkers, families, serious athletes, and recreational runners from infants to over 85 years young.  And one of the few running events that welcomes strollers and baby joggers. The course begins at the store (1450 Broadway) and continues west to turn north on Waterfront Drive with the turn-around by the Wharfinger Building.  The five-mile course continues north until the turn-around at the Samoa Bridge boat ramp.  The course is flat and provides picturesque views of Eureka’s waterfront, marina and boardwalk.

To guarantee a shirt on race day, and to receive a discount, runners need to sign up by the early deadline of September 9th.  Late registrations and runner packets are available at the store on Friday, September 25th from 4-7 p.m. Online registration is atwww.active.com with paper entries at Eureka Natural Foods and The JoggN Shoppe in Arcata.  Entry forms can also be downloaded fromwww.6rrc.com. Youth in the third through twelfth grade, involved in a running program, may fill out an online application for free running shoes athttp://www.6rrc.com/2015.html#sep .
