"We currently have the highest capita of criminals in U.S. with crimes such as tax evasion and money laundering", Humboldt white collar greed exposed

This morning during the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors' meeting Supervisor Ryan Sundberg spoke on agenda item G 1: Further Clarity on Roles, and Responsibilities of the various Marijuana subcommittees. He also requested item C 7 be pulled off the consent calendar for discussion. That was the letter re AB 243, a bill on medical marijuana cultivation that generated some lively quotes during public comment.

Supervisor Sundberg had the letter pulled out to bring attention to the fact that in the latest draft, plant count would be replaced by square footage. Board members discussed modifications and voted the letter be sent this afternoon.

California Cannabis Voice co-founder Luke Bruner was in attendance and spoke on both items. In fact, he himself said this when he spoke on the roles of the board's marijuana subcommittee. "At the risk of wearing out my welcome, our County has a superb lobbyist firm" advocating on state legislation.

Supervisor Sundberg had suggested some clarification if more than two members were needed from the board for marijuana related matters. Supervisor Rex Bohn had been working on dispensary related issues and Supervisor Virginia Bass with Supervisor Lovelace on statewide legislation. Supervisor Bohn and Bass were  fine with allowing Supervisor Estelle Fennell and Sundberg who are the two board members appointed by the board on an ad hoc committee.

"We don't need a dispensary on every corner," said Supervisor Bohn. He said he had visited dispensary owners to get feedback and an idea of how many people use their service. "I don't think anyone has a problem getting marijuana in Humboldt County."

He said CCVH had not taken a position on the bill. "Assemblyman Woods needs to be lauded on his leadership on this." According to Bruner, the provisions in this bill would "create a default state system to regulate" and cities and counties had a timeline to bring their own effort.

Self described public "watchdog" Kent Sawatsky who attends every meeting made the above quote and said he would expound later when CCVH's land use draft ordinance will be addressed this afternoon. Privately, he gave me a sneak preview of his comments. He said he is going to suggest that the Koch brothers give funding to build another jail for white collar crimes and the greed in Humboldt County. During public comment this morning, Mr. Sawatsky called these RICOH type of crimes.

Supervisor Estelle Fennell and Supervisor Ryan Sundberg were voted, ( with Supervisor Lovelace dissenting) as the only board members on an ad hoc committee concerning all matters regarding marijuana. Their term expires December 31, 2015. Supervisor Lovelace generated a bit of amusement when he said, "marijuana, I mean cannabis." For those that don't get the joke, state officials visiting SoHum were chewed out for using marijuana instead of cannabis, the new pc term for weed.
