Craigslist ad in rants and raves blames the "Unaffordable act" on why a lanlord raised rent

https://humboldt.craigslist.org/rnr/5113501469.html

He does not say he is Republican, could be Decline to State or Libetarian. Some will use his rant to tar all Republicans.

The largest rental company in Eureka is owned by a Democrat and so are many other high priced rentals in Humboldt County.

The man makes some valid points how the middle and working class are being shafted by government. But high rents cannot be blamed on the Affordable Care Act.

His posting in the rant and rave is appropriate.

He does not address whether his lack of budgeting causes him to have less money or if he has other rentals.

His rent increase could cause someone to lose a roof over their head, then their job, then that leads crime, then the taxpayers pay.

If he is one of those decent landlords, then his beef should be with the city that keeps raising taxes on utilities and the reasons why.

There are many other reasons for services being paid for by a few.  Lack of jobs, not enough affordable housing and landlords to happy to collect cash from our green untaxed economy and raise rents, unions exhortations, just to name a few.

I think just as our current DA has cases where bail needs to be posted from legitimate income, landlords that deposit large amounts of cash should be audited, taxed and required to invest in affordable income rentals which would make some dent on homelessness.

Building our tax revenue will reduce the burden on a few.

  1. If the Affordable Care Act increased his expenses significantly, as he claims it did, that would be a legitimate contributing factor for increasing rents.

    1. Fred, I don't disagree with you or him, if that is the case. He just did not provide facts that prove that was the only factor.
