William Lorenzen resisting arrest in Ferndale same as the one who is top recipient of farm subsidy?

The reference is to a guy in a LOCO post who allegedly violently resisted arrest by Ferndale police.

  1. Thanks for the provocative article! I'm not really clear on the point of it though. Is there a relationship between farm subsidy recipients and resisting arrest that you wish to point out? The guy is also a scratch golfer and a devout evangelistic Mormon violinist but what difference does it make to you? What exactly inspired this post, brother? Merry Christmas anyway...

    1. dk, I simply raised the question if the person arrested is the same person who got the farm subsidy. You seem to be a bit bent out of shape about motives you think I have. Which I do not.

I have no way of verifying what you say about him but if it's true, it simply raises the question that all the above could be about the same person.

Now does that not add a little more information about the man who allegedly resisted arrest?

Thanks for your comment. Merry Christmas to you as well.

  2. John,

This is an interesting dataset, but I think what you found is that the person received $312, not $312,000 or $312,000,000.

What is more interesting to me are the larger recipients, the half million to Renner Ranches (?!), the third of a million to Loleta Cheese.

I wonder if the people in these companies are among those who are constantly complaining about government handouts to the poorest among us. I don't know.

  3. Incidentally, a moment's searching shows that Diamond R, the second largest recipient, is also owned by members of the Renner family. Nothing at all wrong with that, but I do wonder if these folks are all connected with Renner Petroleum, as I remain very suspicious of the local gas suppliers and gas station owners, who have been able to maintain very unusual and consistent markups here, enough that would trigger investigations in many other places, all without any political challenge.
